Main Street Activities

There’s more to Main Street than just window shopping. Walk inside these shops and you’ll discover some fun activities, especially for entertainment on a rainy or snowy day.

Enjoy music, beverages and snacks while you learn how to paint a loon at the Peaks Paintbar.

  • Pure Placid: Love this store. In addition to candles they have great active wear with their super cute Pure Placid logo. And they frequently offer fun activities like candle making, craft cocktail making, and yoga classes. Check their calendar for different offerings each month.

  • Just Bead It: A great space to sit, be creative and brighten a gloomy day … beading a necklace or bracelet.

  • Peaks Paintbar: Enjoy a beer or glass of wine while you paint! Check the calendar of events for themed group painting events. Participants get an apron, canvas, paint and brushes. Better yet, their expert instructors provide a step by step guide to the painting while you sip on your favorite beverages and snack on treats. No experience is needed.

  • Palace Theatre: It’s always fun to catch a movie at this old-time theatre. Don’t miss the real buttered popcorn! (Cash only.)

  • Bookstore Plus: Not only do they have story time for kids, but there’s also bookclub speaker sessions for adults. On the first Tuesday of every month, they host a book club experience where readers have the opportunity to discuss the book club pick with the author.

  • Lake Placid Library: Great little library and so cozy with fireplaces and couches. They sponsor book clubs, host a weekly children’s story hour every Friday, and provide a summer reading program and young-adult after-school program.

  • Foot Sanctuary: Book a foot massage, or check their calendar for periodic events. They often have speakers and relaxing activities like meditation.

  • Lake Placid Olympic Museum: After a complete remodeling project, the museum is now reopened. And check their events calendar for trivia nights!

  • Lake Placid Center for the Arts: Okay, the LPCA isn’t on Main Street, but it’s right around the corner from the cottage. Not only can you catch a live performance, but you can also take a wide selection of classes for adults and kids. Everything from improv to photography to pottery and painting. A really fun way to spend a day indoors.
