4 Venues for Live Music

Looking to catch live music while visiting Lake Placid? It’s hard to beat sitting outside in the park or hanging out on a deck and jamming to great tunes. Here are a few spots to catch a band in the summertime.

  1. If it’s a Tuesday night during the summer, grab a picnic blanket and walk down to Mid’s Park on Mirror Lake. Every Tuesday they host a free Songs at Mirror Lake concert from 7 until 9 pm. The series usually starts in June and runs through mid-August. And on Wednesdays nights they host free Sinfonietta concerts at the same venue. Both series are family-friendly, but leave Fido at home.

  2. Saranac Lake hosts a similar summer series called Music on the Green every Wednesday night during peak summer season, July through mid-August. It’s held in Riverside Park by Flower Lake, and starts at 7 pm. Also family-friendly. Check their Facebook page for the line-up.

  3. The Waterhole Music Lounge in Saranac Lake is probably the most popular place to catch a live band on a regular weekend night. They host live music outside as part of their Party on the Patio every Thursday from late April through early October. Basically, if it’s decent weather outside on a Thursday night, head over to the Waterhole. They also have weekend shows and a special lineup for Saranac Lake’s Winter Carnaval in February.

  4. If you’re in the ADK in August, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts has a four-day Open Sky music festival. And yes, it’s outdoors. Because they’re so close to our cottage, you can basically sit on our deck and hear all the music. Bonus.
