Flower Child
Usually when you think about a farm tour, you’re envisioning fruits, vegetables, cows, maybe sheep. But why not include a flower farm on your next Adirondack driving tour? Fields and fields of flowers. Here are a few options if you’re around the Lake Placid area or Lake Champlain Valley.
Bell’s Flowers, Saranac Lake. Order a fresh bouquet for pick-up or delivery, or attend one of their farm events like flower arranging or a wreath making workshop.
Little Farmhouse Flowers, Jay. Get your flower fix from their Instagram feed and website blog. They also have gorgeous bouquets for pickup when you’re driving through Jay, and private farm tours by appointment.
Mossbrook Roots, Keeseville. If you’re down around the Mace Chasm Butcher, North Country Creamery and Ausable Brewery, then right down the road is Mossbrook. Check their website for events and workshops, like Bouquet Bar and Blooms and Brews. The farm shop is open seasonally May - October, 8 am - 5 pm.
Adirondack View Lavender, Keeseville. You can pick your own lavender on summer weekends for just $6 a bouquet, take a lavender wreath making workshop, or shop their lavender store. Not a bad location for a family photo op, either.
