Foodie Farm Tour

While farmers’ markets are fun, there’s nothing quite like picking up fresh products right on the farm. Going straight to the source. This is a great activity in nice weather, as well as cloudy or rainy days. With a little planning, you can build an incredible Charcuterie board as you go with homemade bread, crackers, hard salami, pate if you’re feeling fancy, an array of small-batch cheeses and add a drizzle of local syrup or honey.

Some of these products you’ll see at farmers’ markets or at shops like Green Goddess and Noris. However, there’s usually a much wider selection on each farm. For example, you’ll find many more options at the Mace Chasm farm shop, including fresh cut meats on certain days of the week. At the North Country Creamery’s Clover Mead Farm Store you can sometimes find bulk containers of their yogurt for great prices. And due to regulatory laws, raw milk is ONLY sold directly on the farm, so you won’t see it anywhere else.

Here’s my favorite driving circuit for picking up delicious goodies. We like ending at the dairy stores so those products aren’t sitting in the car while we pick flowers or drink beer. And don’t forget to bring along a few insulated bags or cooler for your cold items.
