Take the Adirondack Rail Trail from Saranac Lake to Lake Clear. An awesome bike trail through woods and along ponds. I did this ride in the Fall at near peak fall color. It was absolutely gorgeous!

This section from the Saranac Lake railroad station to NY Route 186 (and back) is 12 miles roundtrip. Riding all the way from Old Military Road in Lake Placid to Route 186 and back -- which is what I actually did -- is just under 30 miles.
