A Farmers Market Haul

The Mace Chasm farm stall at the Saranac Lake Farmers’ Market

Farmers’ Markets are a summer staple. It’s a wonderful way to support local farmers and small batch businesses, and get some tasty treats like artisan cheeses, sausages, fresh yogurt and more. Here’s our list of nearby farmers’ markets for summer 2022, as well as some of my favorite stalls. Importantly, these markets are family-friendly and dog-friendly too!

Lake Placid: Wednesdays, 10 am - 1 pm. Parking lot of Green Goddess on Saranac Avenue. Runs June 15 - September 15. This is not a large market, but it’s convenient and you can usually pick up some fresh fruits and veggies.

Saranac Lake: Saturdays, 9 am - 1 pm. Riverside Park. Runs May 28 - October 8. Probably my favorite market. There’s often live music and a hot lunch served for a small donation. The variety of stalls includes lots of fresh fruit and veggies, as well as prepared foods, gifts and art. Highly recommend.

Keene Valley: Sundays, 9:30 am - 2 pm. Marcy field between Keene and Keene Valley. Runs May 29 - October 9. This is a good size market and will definitely include fruits and veggies. I’ve found there’s a lot more arts and crafts at this market.
