Come with us as we hike up to Goodnow Fire Tower in the Adirondacks. Near Newcomb, in upstate New York, the Goodnow fire tower was built in 1922. While this isn't the closest fire tower to Lake Placid, it is similar to others in the area. If you're coming out of Lake Placid, consider the Hurricane Mountain fire tower near Keene.

The ADK Mountain Club's fire tower challenge involves hiking to at least 23 fire tower summits: 18 of 27 in the Adirondack Park and all 5 in the Catskill Park. Including our latest summit of Goodnow, we've now completed 10 of these hikes.
