Climbing the Tallest Adirondack Fire Tower

Climb up the tallest fire tower in the Adirondacks with us. The Wakely fire tower, in the West Canada Lakes Wilderness, is the tallest tower in the Adirondacks at 70 feet. It was first established in 1911 as a wooden structure, and replaced in 1916 by the steel one standing today. The trail is 3 miles one-way with 1,635 feet of vertical gain. Mountain top elevation is 3,750. We hiked it in mid-October 2024 and there was still fall foliage along the trail and a bit of light snow at the top! Beautiful hike.
